Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes: E15, E24, E25 and More

Last updated

A Bosch dishwasher code is a message about one circuit or condition, and Bosch’s own US error-code page sorts them into three kinds: codes you can act on, codes where you reset power once, and codes where you contact support. This guide follows that page and Bosch’s separate E24 and E25 help pages. Find the exact characters on your display, read the group they belong to and do only the owner steps Bosch lists. If the dishwasher is also leaving water in the tub, the dishwasher not-draining guide covers the shared drain clues.

How Bosch groups its codes

Bosch lists two code formats for the same faults. Older displays show a short code such as E24, and newer ones show a four-digit version such as E6103. The meaning is the same, so a code in either format maps to one row below. If your code is not on the list, Bosch says to contact Customer Support with the model number ready.

Bosch’s reset instruction for most electronic faults is the same: turn the dishwasher off with the power button, or switch off its breaker, for about 30 seconds to a minute, turn it back on and run a short empty cycle to see whether the code returns. A code that comes back after one reset is not a code to keep resetting.

Owner checks Bosch lists

Code What Bosch says it means What Bosch lists for the owner
E12 / E2060 Limescale build-up in the heat pump Descale with Bosch descaler; use softening salt if the model has a softener
E16, E17 / E3300, E3400 Water may not be able to enter the dishwasher Check the inlet hose for kinks or damage; contact support if it continues
E18 / E3200 Water level too low or water not pumped correctly Check the inlet hose and that the supply is on; Bosch gives a flow of 10 liters per minute
E22 / E9240 Filter blocked Remove the filter, wash it under running water with mild soap and a soft brush, then reinstall; the dishwasher filter guide shows the general routine
E24 / E6103 Not draining because of a blocked drain filter See the E24 steps below
E25 / E6102 Drain pump blocked, or its cover is loose or missing See the E25 steps below
E27 / E9001 House power supply too low Reset the breaker for 30 seconds; if it returns, have an electrician check the incoming voltage

E24 and E6103: not draining

Bosch’s E24 help page says the dishwasher is not draining properly because the drain filter is blocked, and describes the symptoms as water pooling at the bottom after a cycle, the unit pausing or stopping mid-cycle, and gurgling or humming noises. It lists a blocked drain hose, a filter that needs cleaning, or a new garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed as the possible causes. Its steps, in order:

  1. Check the inlet hose for kinks or damage.
  2. Check that the siphon connection is sealed.
  3. Check that the pump cover, located under the filter, is not loose. Your owner’s manual shows where it is.
  4. If the drain hose connects to a garbage disposal, make sure the plug is removed from the disposer’s dishwasher drain connection.
  5. After fixing the problem, reset the dishwasher and the code as the owner’s manual describes.

If the steps do not clear it, Bosch says to contact Customer Service at 1-800-944-2904 or use its online form or chat.

E25 and E6102: blocked pump or loose cover

Bosch says an E25 means the drain pump is blocked or its cover is loose or missing. The pump sits at the bottom of the dishwasher under the filter. Bosch’s steps are to remove the filter and confirm the pump cover is secure. If the cover is loose or missing, reseat or replace it. If the pump may be blocked, remove the filter completely, use a spoon to pry the cover up until it clicks, grip it, pull up until you feel resistance and then pull it forward. Check the pump, and use a sponge to remove debris and standing water. Reinstall the cover and the filter, then run the dishwasher to see whether E25 clears.

Bosch’s only warning on that page is to take care because some debris may be sharp, and it does not mention disconnecting power. Switching the dishwasher off at its breaker before reaching into the pump area is the cautious step, and your owner’s manual is the place to confirm it for your model. If the cover is secure, the pump is clear and E25 persists, or you cannot reach the parts, contact Bosch.

Codes that need support

Bosch assigns these to a technician. Where its table says to reset the breaker for 30 seconds first, that is the only owner action.

Code Condition Bosch describes
E01 / E0100 Heat-pump motor circuit fault on the main board
E02, E03 / E0103, E0107 Main-board relay fault
E04 / E0105 Faulty heater electronics found in the self-test; contact support
E05 / E0106 Wash-arm diverter circuit fault
E06 / E8000 Door sensor circuit fault
E07 / E2130 Zeolite (Crystal Dry) fan motor defective
E09, E20 / E2030, E6001 Heat-pump internal heater fault
E10 / E2120 Zeolite chamber heater fault
E14 / E3000 Flow meter failure or a filling problem; contact support
E15 / E3100 Water detected in the base, leakage protection active; shut off the water and contact support
E19 / E6900 Detergent dispenser solenoid circuit fault
E21 / E6002 Heat pump blocked
E23 / E6101 Drain pump blocked, clogged or faulty; contact support
E0110 Electronics miscommunication; contact support
E6160 PowerControl lower spray arm reference position not found; contact support

Some of these apply only to models with a heat pump or the Zeolite Crystal Dry system. The code identifies a condition and is not an instruction to open the machine. The exact characters on your display, and the model’s manual, are what apply to your dishwasher.

H01 is not an error

Bosch states that H01 is not a fault. It means a start-up timer delay is set, with H01 for one hour, H02 for two hours and so on. To cancel it, Bosch says to press the minus or plus button until h:00 shows. If a cycle has not started and the display shows an H followed by a number, check for a delay before assuming anything has failed.

What to tell Bosch when you call

Have the model number and the exact code, including whether it is the E-number or the four-digit version. Say whether you have already reset the power, cleaned the filter, checked the inlet hose or removed the disposer plug, since those are the first questions. For a leak code, say whether water is visible around the base; the dishwasher leaking guide covers the general causes of leaks, and a Bosch water-in-base code still goes to support. If the dishwasher shows no code but never starts a cycle, the won’t-start guide lists the visible checks. A code that returns after a single reset, or any water-in-base code, is a support call, and Bosch does not describe a safe owner repair for those.

Frequently asked questions

What does E15 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

Bosch says E15, and the four-digit E3100, mean water was detected in the base and leakage protection activated. Turn off the water inflow and contact Bosch support.

What do E24 and E25 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

E24 means the dishwasher is not draining because the drain filter is blocked. E25 means the drain pump is blocked or its cover is loose or missing. Bosch has a separate help page for each.

Is H01 an error code on a Bosch dishwasher?

No. Bosch uses H01 for a one-hour start-up delay, H02 for two hours and so on. Press the minus or plus button until h:00 shows to cancel it.

What should I do if a Bosch code returns after a reset?

Bosch lists a 30-second breaker reset for many electronic faults. If the same code returns, contact Bosch support at 1-800-944-2904 rather than resetting repeatedly.
