How we write our guides
Where the information comes from.
Every guide is based on the manufacturer's own documentation: service manuals, owner's manuals and official support pages. We list the sources at the bottom of each guide. If we can't back a statement with a source, we leave it out.
How we order the causes.
We list causes from the cheapest and easiest to check to the most expensive and hardest to fix, because that is the order in which it makes sense to check them. Each cause says how to tell it apart from the others, how hard it is, how long it takes, what tools you need and what the part usually costs.
Costs.
Part and repair costs come from a single dataset that shows when each figure was last checked. Prices vary by region and by model, so treat them as a range, not a quote.
Safety.
We don't write steps for work on gas valves, refrigerant lines or mains wiring. When a problem points to one of those, the guide tells you to stop and call a qualified professional. Always unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before opening a panel.
How we use AI.
We use AI tools to help draft guides. Every guide is built from the cited manufacturer documentation and checked against it before publication.
Updates and corrections.
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review the most visited guides regularly and correct mistakes as soon as we find them. To report one, write to contact@homefixclues.com.
Ads and links.
The site is supported by advertising. Ads are labeled and never mixed into the steps of a guide. If we add affiliate links to parts or tools, we will say so on the page.
