For an LG dryer that is not heating, check Energy Saver, the lint filter and the displayed code first. LG says restricted airflow is a common cause, and Energy Saver can make Cotton/Normal run without heat for much of the cycle. A voltage, gas or internal fault belongs with a professional.
Check the cycle before the code
LG says Energy Saver is enabled by default on Cotton/Normal for the covered dryers. That setting uses no heat for most of the cycle, so a cool period does not automatically mean the dryer is broken. Check whether Energy Saver is active and select a suitable cycle for the load. The page lists a default dryness level of 80 percent Normal; change the level only if the controls and model instructions allow it.
Clean the lint filter and inspect the visible exhaust hose behind the dryer for a crush, hole or sharp bend. LG says the hose should not be flattened and the exterior flaps should open fully. Do not move a gas-connected or hardwired appliance to reach behind it. A vent inside a wall needs a professional cleaning; the dryer vent guide explains the safe exterior checks.
Write down the exact code. LG uses airflow, door, moisture-sensor, thermistor and power indications that point to different first checks. A code does not tell you to open the dryer. For the shared causes and safety boundaries, see the dryer not-heating hub; for a weak-heat symptom, use the warm-but-not-hot guide.
LG-specific causes
1. Energy Saver is on
Energy Saver is reducing heat during the cycle
Cotton/Normal is selected with Energy Saver active and the cycle is mostly cool.

LG says Energy Saver is enabled by default on Cotton/Normal for the covered models. It uses no heat during most of the cycle, so the dryer may feel cool until the heated portion. LG lists 80 percent Normal as the default dryness level in its support guidance.
Check the control panel and the model manual before changing the setting. If the load remains wet after a full suitable cycle, inspect airflow and read any displayed code. Do not treat a cool part of Energy Saver as proof of a failed element.
2. A d-code reports restricted airflow

LG lists d75, d80, d90 and d95 as airflow-restriction codes. The number indicates the reported severity; the exact meaning should be read from the model’s own display and manual. A restricted duct can reduce heat transfer and extend drying.
Clean the lint filter and inspect only the visible exhaust route. Do not push tools into a wall duct or remove the rear panel. If the code points to an interior restriction, arrange professional vent cleaning. $75–$150Source: Dryer Repair Cost (Fixr) · Checked October 12, 2026 is a planning range, not a quote for your home’s duct layout.
3. The exhaust hose or outside flaps are blocked
The exhaust hose or outside flaps are blocked
The rear hose is crushed or the exterior flaps cannot open fully.

LG says a crushed or damaged hose can restrict airflow and that the outside flaps should open fully. The page also describes running Air Dry to observe whether the flap opens. Do not test an outlet or access the vent from a roof or ladder.
Look only from a safe place at the exterior outlet while the dryer runs an appropriate no-heat cycle, if the manual permits it. If the flap stays closed, the duct is inside a wall or the hose is damaged, stop and arrange service.
4. nP means no current to the heater
nP indicates no current to the heater
nP appears on the display.

LG says nP indicates no current to the heating system. This is an electrical supply concern. Do not inspect the terminal block, move wires or measure the outlet.
LG directs the owner to check the specified 240-volt grounded outlet and breaker, then contact an electrician if the issue persists. A licensed electrician or appliance technician should verify the connection. Keep the dryer closed until service.
5. PS indicates a supply or terminal issue
PS indicates an electrical supply issue
PS appears on the display.

LG lists PS for an electrical supply problem. The source mentions reversed wires at the terminal block, but that is not an owner check. A terminal block carries high voltage and must remain closed.
Do not remove the terminal cover or touch a cord connection. Have a licensed electrician or appliance technician inspect the supply and installation.
6. A thermistor code needs service
A temperature sensor code needs diagnosis
tE1, tE2 or tE3 appears and returns after LG's listed reset.

LG lists tE1, tE2 and tE3 as thermistor-related codes. Its page says tE2 can appear with a cold dryer or steam cycle and describes a reset. The source does not give a user procedure to test the sensor.
Use the reset only as described in the model instructions. If the code returns, stop and ask service to diagnose it. Do not remove a panel or test the thermistor.
7. A gas-supply indication needs professional help
A gas supply or combustion issue needs service
A gas model shows 9A5 or continues without heat after safe checks.

LG lists gas and 9A5 as a no-gas indication on the covered models. That is a service clue, not an instruction to inspect a gas valve or connection.
Do not operate gas controls or open the dryer. A qualified appliance technician must diagnose the supply. If you smell gas, leave without touching switches and call the gas utility from outside.

The LG installation test
LG describes an installation test for a cold dryer with no laundry or lint inside. Its instructions say to turn the unit on, hold the two model-designated buttons before the chime ends, and press Start/Pause. The display shows InS after about one minute, then End or 0 after about two minutes; around 20 seconds later the display clears or flashes codes.
LG’s page does not map the code progression consistently. Do not infer a voltage or airflow measurement from a number rising during that test. If your panel does not show the expected InS sequence, stop and use the instructions for the exact model. The test is not a reason to open the dryer or access a 240-volt connection.
Other LG codes
LG lists HS for the moisture sensor and says to clean the bars with a damp cloth. It lists dE for a door condition and F0 for the lint filter. LG’s tE family refers to the thermistor. For E13, the source limits the meaning to hybrid condensation models and points to the drain hose. Check the model manual before applying any of those descriptions to another LG dryer.
LG’s listed hard reset is to unplug the dryer, hold Start/Pause for five seconds, then hold Play/Pause for five seconds, and reconnect power. Use that sequence only if it matches the model’s instructions. Do not use it to clear an active electrical, gas or overheating fault.
Stop and call a pro
Stop for nP, PS, 9A5, a repeated tE code, gas odor, burning smell or a damaged cord. Do not inspect the terminal block or gas line. For a vent code, clean only the lint filter and visible areas; leave internal wall and roof ducts to a professional. If the machine still does not heat after LG’s safe checks, arrange service.
When you call, provide the full model number, exact code, selected cycle, whether Energy Saver was on, and whether the outside flap opens. That lets the technician distinguish a cycle setting from an airflow or supply fault.
Three codes that point to different checks
LG lists HS as a humidity-sensor message and says to clean the sensor bars with a damp cloth. F0 points to the lint filter. E13 applies only to hybrid condensation models and concerns the drain hose. These codes do not mean the heater itself has failed. Match the code to the dryer type before choosing an owner check.
LG also recommends professional vent cleaning once a year. That schedule matters when an airflow code returns after the lint filter and visible rear hose are clear. Do not reach into a wall duct or remove a panel to look for a restriction. A persistent code or a damaged vent needs service.
Frequently asked questions
What does d95 mean on an LG dryer?
LG groups d75, d80, d90 and d95 as restricted-airflow codes. Check the lint filter and visible hose, then arrange vent service if the restriction is inside a wall or roof.
Why does the dryer show tE after a reset?
LG lists tE1, tE2 and tE3 as thermistor codes. If one returns after the model’s listed reset, stop and arrange service rather than testing the sensor.
Can I repair an LG dryer that shows PS?
No. LG identifies PS as a supply issue and its source discusses the terminal block. Leave the cover closed and call a licensed electrician or appliance technician.
